The beta test for Trillian 3.0 has been completed and a final release is now available. The new Trillian is modularized and makes more use of the plugin interface. This allows to easor remove features. The big gap between Basic and Pro version has been reduced. Both versions are now based on the same code and there is only a single download. The additional Pro features are activated by entering the membership data. Videochat and additional plugin are still Pro-only features.

According to Ceruleanstudios, new updates will now appear in shorter cycles. Version 3.1 is already in the works. But for now, teh new version already offers a lot of interesting new ideas that are unique in the Instant Messaging market. Unfortunately, some flaws also exist. IRC users will miss a lot of features, as the new plugin is quite basic.
